Shap itself sits on the famed northern walking route of the Coast to Coast route, allowing you to follow a portion of the waymarked route all the way to Kirkby Stephen (18 miles) and onwards if you prefer. This town is a chocolate box highlight in the Eden Valley, well worth exploring whether you’re walking, biking or driving to get there.
