This cottage is an exceptionally well appointed cottage sleeping up to six people in three luxurious bedrooms in the heart of the historic Lakeland village of Pooley Bridge on the northern shores of Ullswater. The house is surrounded by fields on three sides with wonderful views from all of the windows. It has been completely refurbished by the owners making it a welcoming and indulgent place to spend your holiday. Visitors will find countless thoughtful touches including bespoke mirrors, a fabulous oak kitchen with Neff appliances and granite worktops, a sumptuous leather sofa, showers with drencher heads, deep mattresses and Cole and Lewis toiletries. The fabulous raised deck with built-in BBQ has stunning views of the surrounding fells and fields where you will see plenty of lambs in springtime when the house really lives up to its name! Nestled on the banks of the River Eamont as it flows out of the northern end of Ullswater, Pooley Bridge is a special village with an atmosphere all of its own. In the village centre the Fish Cross commemorates a charter granted by King John in the 12th century. It is a bustling place with pubs, tearooms, village shop, post office, an off licence selling speciality groceries, a Steamer pier, rowing and motor boat hire, pony trekking and countless walks and cycle rides to enjoy. Ullswater itself is widely thought of as one of the most picturesque of the lakes in the National Park. In fact William Wordsworth went so far to describe it as: ‘the happiest combination of beauty and grandeur, which any of the lakes affords.’ He found inspiration from its shores to write his most famous work; Daffodils. This cottage is perfectly placed in Pooley Bridge for it just to be a short stroll to all of its delights while having stunning wide open views of fields and fells. There are a wealth of walks to explore from gentle lakeside ambles to more challenging Lakeland giants such as Helvellyn. Added to this you can catch one of the wonderful Ullswater Steamers at Pooley Bridge Pier opening up a vast choice of linear walks and cycle rides. Why not take one of these elegant heritage vessels to Aira Force Pier and take in the gorgeous riverside amble up through enchanting woodland to the stupendous sight of the waterfall cascading 70ft down a rocky ravine? The village is perfectly placed to explore the wider area too including the historic delights of Dalemain, a stately home with glorious gardens and a fascinating past. Nearby visitor centre Rheged is an award winning visitor attraction boasting a spa, shops, local art, an artisan deli and a gigantic 3D cinema. In short if you are looking for an indulgent place to stay with everything that's delightful about the northern Lake District right on your doorstep then this property could be just the cottage you're looking for. The house has been refurbished and every possible detail has been thought of by the owners to make it a welcoming and luxurious place to spend your break. Visitors will find countless thoughtful touches including high quality hand soaps, bespoke mirrors using local wood, well designed lighting, excellent showers with drencher heads and a fabulous raised deck making wonderful use of the stunning fell views from its south-westerly aspect not to mention all the surrounding fields where you'll see plenty of lambs in springtime. On arrival at this cottage there are several wooden steps to the front door through which you'll find a porch with boot tray and hanging space. Perfect for all that outdoor wear you're sure to use during your Lake District stay. From here you are greeted by the wonderful open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. It's a splendid airy open space drawing in light from several large windows and two double doors leading out on to the decking. It has rustic oak flooring, a sumptuous leather corner sofa, Smart TV and DVD player and a delightful built-in window seat which makes the perfect place to curl up with a good book and occasionally look up to enjoy the beautiful rolling views that this marvelously situated property commands. A step up takes you up to the lovely raised dining area with seating for six around the oak table. Adjacent to this is the extremely well equipped oak kitchen. It has granite worktops, a raised fan oven, halogen hob, an eye level microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and all the crockery and utensils the foodies among you will relish. It makes an extremely sociable food preparation space made all the more delightful by the double doors opening out onto the raised decking which has space for outdoor dining and a wonderful built-in BBQ making use of the old chimney breast. Aside from eating outside you might well find it the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco morning cuppa or sunset glass of wine. The high spec finish continues as you head through the hall to the colour coordinated bedrooms. All of the bedrooms boast wall mounted TVs with Freeview, solid oak furniture, comfortable mattresses, hairdryers and thoughtfully chosen local artwork and photography. You first arrive at the 'green room', a king-size bedroom with luxurious en-suite shower room, built in dresser and wardrobe and a large bay window looking out to the front of the house. Moving on you'll find the 'blue' king-size master bedroom, another luxurious space with a built in wardrobe and dresser, a large bay window overlooking the woodland to the front of the house and an en-suite shower room with a large walk in shower enclosure. Moving on to the 'purple' twin room, this has an oak wardrobe and dresser and looks out to the rear of the house over the fields where you can enjoy the sight of the new lambs gamboling around in the spring. The family bathroom has a large 'p' bath with over bath mixer shower and a large drencher head. An ideal space to soak away tired muscles from those long walks.
