Located in the bustling, historic town of Cockermouth in Cumbria, this spacious property is perfect for families who want to explore the nearby coastline as well as the Lake District National Park. A great base from which to explore the northern Lake District and western fells, Cockermouth has a range of independent shops, eateries and amenities, all within a few hundred metres of the property. The area is popular with outdoor enthusiasts; whether you’re into walking, cycling, canoeing or climbing, there will be an activity nearby to suit your interests and ability. This former pub, dating back to 1741, has been lovingly restored to create a light and airy home where original features sit effortlessly alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. After discarding your outdoor gear in the hallway, head into the spacious lounge/diner where there is plenty of seating for everyone to sit back and relax. Completing the ground floor is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Upstairs, there’s a bright and modern kitchen with extra dining space, two further well-presented bedrooms (a king-size master and a cosy twin) and a stylish shower room. There is no outdoor space, but there is allocated parking for one car. The birthplace of William Wordsworth, Cockermouth is bursting with history and charm. As well as its shops and eateries, it also offers picturesque walks along the banks of the River Derwent. The lakes of Loweswater, Crummock Water and Bassenthwaite are all within 10 miles, and have walking routes to suit all ages/abilities. Bassenthwaite is perhaps the most popular and well-known, with its nesting ospreys and suitability for water sports, but the others are equally as breathtaking. You can also explore the attractive coastline from here, including the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the north-west, with beaches within 7.5 miles.
