There are some fantastic rural walks in the surrounding area with both Lake Windermere and Coniston Water offering scenic waterside strolls within 5 miles of this cottage. This lovely home from home can be found on the ground floor of the owner’s property and boasts mesmerising views across the Esthwaite Valley. At the heart of this holiday retreat is a cosy lounge area with a large window that overlooks the pretty garden and fills the space with plenty of natural light. Sink into the sofa while the electric fire warms your toes and the chef between you rustles up a tasty meal in the well-equipped kitchen. Outside you’ll find a private patio area where you can enjoy a moment’s peace with a hot cup of tea. You can also access the owner’s garden, which offers a large patio area with seating and a BBQ – perfect for al fresco dining during the warmer months. When it’s time to get some rest, make your way to the bright and airy king-size bedroom, which can be made into a twin on request. The grounds at the National Trust’s Wray Castle are well-worth exploring while you’re in the area and can be reached in 3.5 miles from the property. Located on the shores of Lake Windermere, why not combine your castle visit with a refreshing dip in the lake’s crisp, natural waters? Alternatively, there are options for canoe and kayak hire around the lake.
