The area is a paradise for walkers, with several national trails – including the Offa’s Dyke Path – passing through Mid Wales. Nearby days out include the stunning Italian Renaissance garden at Powis Castle (4.5 miles) and the medieval town of Shrewsbury (19.5 miles). The Grade II-listed barn conversion carefully combines original features with quirky accessories and vibrant soft furnishings, to create a truly unique backdrop for your holiday. The hub of the home is a stylish lounge/kitchen/diner, with an impressive double-height ceiling, exposed trusses, and fabulous rural views. Relax here, after a day of exploring, whipping up tasty feasts in the chic kitchen area and dining together at either the breakfast bar or at the sweet table by the window. After dinner, sink into the plump sofas to watch a movie on the Smart TV. A statement staircase leads to the super-king-size bedroom, set on a mezzanine floor overlooking the living space (this room has a sloping ceiling). The second bedroom is downstairs, and a gorgeous shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, an enclosed balcony provides the perfect setting for an al fresco meal. You’re also welcome to explore the shared garden, which has additional seating areas. Welshpool is an attractive market town, with beautiful Georgian houses and historic buildings. Spend time meandering its pretty streets, perusing the independent shops, before dining in one of the many pubs or restaurants. After lunch, board the heritage steam train for a 16-mile round trip through the magnificent Mid Wales countryside, or perhaps take a gentle stroll along the towpath of the Montgomery Canal.
