It’s the perfect base for couples and families to explore Devon’s rugged moors, rolling hills and pretty villages. This beautiful cottage has a lovely combination of original features and modern amenities, and is flooded with light. Timber floors and a pared back colour palette complement the natural world around. From the entrance take three steps down to the spacious kitchen, which is open-plan to the dining area for sociable cooking and eating. It’s five steps up to the interestingly shaped lounge, an airy space with a high, apex ceiling and huge windows. Here you can gather around the wood burner and plan your next day’s excursions or stream a favourite show on the Smart TV. There’s a handy bathroom on this floor, while on the first floor you’ll find the two bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, each with charming, sloped ceilings and an en-suite shower room. From the glazed doors in the lounge there are two steps down to the patio, where you can enjoy an al fresco drink or meal in the sunshine or under the stars. The field beyond, sometimes used by the owner’s sheep, is shared with the adjacent holiday cottage. Set on a 300-acre working sheep farm, this retreat is surrounded by walks and beauty spots, and you can take part in a variety of outdoor activities, including riding, fishing and moorland safaris. The popular town of South Molton, where there are independent shops, great places to eat and regular markets, is 4 miles away, Barnstaple is 14.5 miles and, for a family day out, Exmoor Zoo is 14 miles.
