With its tucked-away attic bedroom and cosy wood burner, it’s an ideal escape for a solo traveller or a couple looking to really get away from it all. Relax and recharge in this tranquil converted barn, a delightful choice for a Welsh escape. In its open-plan living space a wood burner is the focal point, inviting you in and offering a warming glow on cooler evenings. After cooking in the well-planned kitchen area, you can dine at the small wooden table and then relax on the comfortable seating, perhaps enjoying a book from the shelves or switching on the TV. On this level there’s also a utility room and a shower room. When you’re feeling tired, the double bedroom is up the steep, paddle stairs – a sweet and homely space with skylights and exposed beams decorating its very low, sloping ceiling. For a relaxed morning cuppa, a sundowner or a full-on al fresco dining experience, the enclosed, private courtyard is just the spot, with pretty planting and a BBQ on which you can grill tasty treats. The wider garden area has a sloping lawn and a second patio with outdoor furniture, as well as grassy tracks which lead through meadows and down to a little stream. Set on a smallholding, the cottage is located in a secluded position just outside the peaceful village of Lower Chapel and 1.5 miles from a welcoming pub in Pwllgloyw that serves great food. There’s a golf course 4 miles away, and the vibrant market town of Brecon is just 5 miles. Here you’ll find scenic canal-side walks, a variety of interesting shops, a choice of places to eat and a magnificent cathedral.
