You’ll get a sense of the magnitude of the place as you approach the property via a long private driveway meandering through the owners’ 700-acre dairy farm. This secluded spot has views over the Torridge Valley that will take your breath away, and there are countryside walks right on your doorstep. It’s perfect for a birthday or anniversary celebration with family and friends, whether you’re aged seven or 77, and has five bedrooms that can accommodate up to ten guests. You’ll enjoy plenty of home comforts here, including a wood burner and downstairs underfloor heating. As for the outdoor space – it’s vast! The cottage is elegantly decorated and modern, but still feels very homely and traditional. At its heart is a large country kitchen, accessed via a couple of steps down from the hallway. Here you can all gather round the large dining table for hearty meals prepared in the fabulous range cooker. Like most rooms in this property, the dining area boasts spectacular views. On a chilly evening, retire to the lounge to get comfy in front of the wood burner, which is set into a beautiful stone wall. Watch a movie or play games – and let the kids stay up later than normal as a holiday treat. The five bedrooms, most of which have idyllic countryside views, provide a tranquil space to relax after a busy day. If you’ve bagged the master king-size room, enjoy a long soak in the whirlpool bath before watching TV in bed. Outside, you have your own enclosed garden where you can enjoy a glass of fizz or sizzling summer BBQ feast. There’s also a shared lawn with play equipment that the little ones will love, and you’re welcome to walk across the fields to join the nearby Tarka Trail.
